The southside covers an enormous spread, from the tight inner blocks of Annerley and Greenslopes out to the quarter acre and larger lots of Rochedale, Stretton and Parkinson. Those two ends of the map need different bins for different reasons, which is what this page is about.
Older housing on narrow blocks, much of it Queenslander or post-war timber. Renovation waste is timber-heavy. Driveways are often single width and run alongside the house, so a 4m³ is usually the largest bin that fits comfortably. Street placement with a council permit is more common here than anywhere else on the southside.
Brick and tile from the sixties through eighties, now well into their second renovation cycle. Bathrooms, kitchens and deck replacements dominate. Standard driveways handle a 6m³ without much trouble.

Nothing goes in any bin if it's asbestos, liquid paint, solvent, pesticide, motor oil, a gas bottle, a fire extinguisher, a battery or a tyre.
On your own driveway there's no permit and no council involvement.
On a road, footpath or nature strip you need a permit. Brisbane City Council covers most of the suburbs above, and Logan City Council picks up once you cross the boundary past Rochedale and Calamvale. Each has its own process and fee, and each wants the operator's public liability insurance details. Allow a few business days rather than assuming it's same day.
Inner southside streets are where this comes up most, because the driveways are narrow and often already occupied. If you think you'll need the street, start the permit process before you book the bin rather than after.
Practical placement points: pick a flat solid surface, check what's above the drop point, and leave the bin accessible on collection day. A car parked in front of a full bin means the truck leaves without it.
Same day delivery is available on most bookings placed before midday, subject to the day's schedule and the size you need. Smaller bins have better same day availability than the 9m³. Ringing gets a faster answer than booking online, since we can check the run while you're on the phone.
